Botanicals & Herbs

Aloe barbadensis

Aloe vera is one of the most widely recognized and used botanicals in natural skincare, a succulent plant native to the Arabian Peninsula that has been cultivated and used medicinally across North Africa, the Mediterranean, and beyond for over 6,000 years. Ancient Egyptians called it the plant of immortality. Its clear, gel-like inner leaf contains a remarkable concentration of polysaccharides, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.

At Le Silo Bleu, we use aloe vera juice and gel across both our skincare and haircare formulas, where it contributes hydration, soothing properties, and a lightweight, comfortable skin feel that works beautifully across all skin and hair types.

How It Works

Aloe vera's polysaccharide content, particularly acemannan, forms a lightweight film on the skin and hair that supports moisture retention without heaviness. Its natural enzymes gently support skin cell renewal, while its anti-inflammatory compounds soothe irritation and redness. In haircare, it supports scalp hydration and helps define and soften hair without buildup.
