Matricaria chamomilla / Chamaemelum nobile - Floral Water

Chamomile hydrosol is the aromatic water produced during the steam distillation of chamomile flowers - available from both German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) and Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile), each with slightly different aromatic and therapeutic profiles. German chamomile hydrosol carries some of the striking blue chamazulene character of its essential oil in a more dilute, skin-friendly form, while Roman chamomile hydrosol is sweeter and more apple-like in character.

Chamomile hydrosol is one of the gentlest and most skin-compatible hydrosols available - suitable for baby skin, reactive skin, and any formula where maximum gentleness is the priority.

How It Works

Chamomile hydrosol's naturally occurring alpha-bisabolol and chamazulene content - present at lower concentrations than in the essential oil - provide gentle but meaningful anti-inflammatory and skin-calming properties. It is particularly effective as a toner or mist for reactive, eczema-prone, or sensitized skin, where its ability to reduce redness and calm irritation without stimulation makes it uniquely valuable.
