Cocoa butter is a natural fat extracted from the cacao bean, the same bean used to make chocolate. With its characteristic warm, faintly chocolatey aroma and ivory color, it is one of the most recognizable and beloved ingredients in natural skincare. Its high melting point means it is solid at room temperature, making it an excellent hardening butter for cold process soap.

In our formulas, cocoa butter contributes hardness and a smooth, polished feel to the finished soap bar. It helps create a durable, long-lasting soap that holds its shape well and delivers a creamy, satisfying lather. It's also one of the ingredients that makes our bars feel noticeably different from commercial soap.

How It Works

Cocoa butter's high stearic and palmitic acid content is what gives it its hardening properties in soap. These saturated fatty acids saponify into a firm, stable bar that lasts longer in the shower. Its natural antioxidants also help support bar longevity. The result is a dense, smooth bar with a lather that feels substantive and comforting on the skin.
