Coconut oil is one of the most widely used oils in cold process soapmaking, and for good reason. Pressed from the dried meat of the coconut, it is rich in lauric acid, a saturated fatty acid that produces an exceptionally cleansing bar with large, bubbly lather that rinses cleanly.

We use coconut oil as a key cleansing component in our soap formulas, and in our personal care bars we always balance it with conditioning oils and butters to ensure the finished bar cleanses effectively without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. We also superfat our formulas carefully to ensure their cleansing strength never tips into stripping the moisture away.

Our dish soap carries a high percentage of coconut oil due to its effectiveness in cleansing and cutting through grease and grime. 

How It Works

Coconut oil's high lauric acid content is what gives soap its signature bubbly lather and cleansing power. At higher percentages, it can feel drying, which is why we carefully balance it with high-oleic oils like olive oil and nourishing butters. The result is a bar that lathers beautifully and still leaves skin feeling comfortable after rinsing.
