Lavender is perhaps the most iconic botanical of the French countryside; its purple-grey fields stretching across Provence are one of the defining images of southern France. But lavender is equally at home along the Normandy coast, where it grows in cottage gardens and hedgerows with the same quiet resilience that defines the region. At Le Silo Bleu, lavender is more than an ingredient; it is part of the landscape that inspires everything we make. It was the first candle scent, the first bath salt, and the first soap we created. 

We use dried lavender buds as a botanical addition to select soap formulas and bath salts, where they contribute gentle visual texture, their characteristic soft floral character, and a mild natural exfoliation as they dry in the finished bar. We also use lavender scents and essential oils across the entire line. 

How It Works

Dried lavender buds add gentle surface texture to soap that provides mild, comfortable exfoliation during use. Their natural essential oil content, retained even in dried form, contributes a soft botanical fragrance that complements other scent notes in the formula. Lavender's well-documented anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties extend into its botanical use, making it a reliable choice for sensitive or reactive skin formulas.
