Peppermint is a natural hybrid of watermint and spearmint, native to Europe and now cultivated worldwide. One of the most universally recognized herbs in the world, it has been used medicinally across ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Chinese traditions, its cooling, invigorating menthol content making it instantly identifiable and remarkably effective. In France, menthe poivrée is a garden staple, grown in pots on windowsills and along the edges of kitchen gardens from Normandy to Provence.

In our haircare and soap formulas peppermint brings its signature cooling sensation, its clean green fragrance, and its well-documented scalp-stimulating and purifying properties. It is one of the most immediately gratifying botanicals to use, the scalp tingling sensation it produces is a sign of increased micro-circulation at the follicle level.

How It Works

Peppermint's menthol content activates TRPM8, a cold-sensitive receptor in the skin, producing the characteristic cooling sensation without any actual temperature change. This vasodilation effect increases micro-circulation at the scalp, which may support a healthier follicle environment and promote hair growth over time.
