Illite / Kaolinite blend

Pink clay is a naturally occurring blend of red and white clays, most commonly a combination of illite and kaolinite, that produces its characteristic soft rose tone from trace iron oxides present in the mineral deposit. It is one of the gentlest cosmetic clays available, making it the preferred choice for sensitive, dry, or mature skin types where the more absorbent clays would feel too stripping.

In our soap and skincare formulas, pink clay contributes its delicate blush color, a refined lather texture, and mild slip, the smooth, almost silky skin feel that clays impart during use. It cleanses gently without drawing excess moisture from the skin, making it one of the most universally flattering clay ingredients in natural formulation.

How It Works

Pink clay's gentle absorbency lifts surface impurities and mild excess sebum without disrupting the skin's moisture balance. Its mineral content, including silica, magnesium, and calcium, contributes mild skin-supportive benefits, while its fine particle size ensures a smooth, comfortable feel in both soap and skincare applications. Its natural pigmentation produces beautiful blush tones in cold process soap that deepen slightly during cure.
