Oryza sativa, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein

Rice protein is derived from whole rice grain through a process of hydrolysis that breaks the protein down into smaller peptide fragments that can penetrate and bond with the hair shaft. Rice has been central to East and Southeast Asian haircare traditions for centuries. The famous long-haired women of the Red Yao tribe in China have traditionally rinsed their hair with fermented rice water, a practice now recognized as one of the most protein-rich natural hair treatments available.

In our haircare formulas, we use hydrolyzed rice protein for its ability to reinforce the hair's structural integrity, reduce breakage, and improve the resilience of fragile or damaged hair.

How It Works

Hydrolyzed rice protein contains a high concentration of amino acids, particularly arginine, histidine, and lysine, that bond to damaged areas of the hair shaft, filling in gaps in the cuticle and reinforcing the cortex. This protein repair mechanism reduces breakage, improves elasticity, and gives hair a stronger, healthier feel over time. It works particularly well in conditioner formulas where it can remain on the hair long enough to bond effectively.
