Salvia rosmarinus
Rosemary is one of the most storied herbs in both culinary and medicinal tradition, native to the rocky coastal cliffs and garrigue of the Mediterranean, a landscape not unlike the Cotentin coast of Normandy that inspires so much of what we make at Le Silo Bleu. Hardy, aromatic, and resilient, rosemary has been cultivated and revered across Southern Europe for millennia.
We also grow it in our herb garden here on Long Island, where our established plants have been producing abundantly for years. That garden rosemary, harvested by hand, is the foundation of many of our rosemary-infused formulas.
How It Works
Rosemary is rich in rosmarinic acid, ursolic acid, and a range of antioxidant compounds that support scalp circulation, hair follicle health, and a balanced scalp environment. As a dried herb in soap it adds visual texture and a gentle botanical character. As an infusion it transfers its active compounds into the formula. Its natural antiseptic properties also make it a traditional ingredient in formulas designed for oily or congestion-prone scalps.
