Ingredient Standards & Sourcing

Every material used in our formulations is selected with clear internal standards: performance, compatibility, stability, and long-term integrity. We don't formulate around trends or marketing language. We formulate around structure.

An ingredient must serve a purpose. It must contribute meaningfully to the system it belongs to. If it does not enhance performance, stability, or experience, it doesn't remain.

Botanical Material Standards

Selection Criteria

Botanical materials are evaluated for both character and function. We prioritize high quality, freshness, and compatibility over novelty. Extracts and oils are chosen based on their role within the formulation, whether they are supporting moisture balance, for barrier comfort, scalp integrity, or aromatic depth.

Materials are incorporated at purposeful levels. We don't add trace amounts just for label appeal. Proportion matters.

Oil Integrity

Carrier oils and butters are selected with attention to their fatty acid profiles, oxidation stability, and sensory behaviors. Texture, absorption, and long-term stability are considered alongside conditioning properties. Optimal freshness and storage disciplines are essential to maintaining that integrity.

Functional Ingredient Standards

Cleansing Systems

Gentle surfactants used in haircare and cleansing products are selected for balance and effective removal of buildup without unnecessary disruption of the scalp. Mildness and scalp compatibility are prioritized. Each cleansing system is evaluated as part of a complete pairing, not as a standalone formula.

Emulsifiers & Stabilizers

In skincare and conditioning systems, structural ingredients are chosen for stability and compatibility. Emulsifiers must support texture and integrity without heaviness. Stabilizers are used where necessary to preserve consistency over time.

We favor reliable structure over complexity every time.

Preservation

Appropriate preservation is a non-negotiable. Every water-containing formulation requires a preservation system suited to its composition. Safety, stability, and shelf-life integrity guide these decisions. We do not compromise safety and structure for trend-based claims.

Fragrance & Aromatic Standards

Fragrance Oils

Fragrance materials are selected for performance within their intended medium, whether wax, oil, or water-based systems. Load levels are carefully balanced to maintain burn quality, stability, and skin compatibility where applicable. We rigorously follow IFRA guidelines.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are used intentionally and within established dermal limits. They are selected for their characteristics, aroma, and compatibility. We never add for excess intensity.

What We Avoid

Our standards are defined as much by restraint as by inclusion.

We avoid:

• Unnecessary fillers
• Excess synthetic dyes
• Over-fragrancing
• Instability-prone combinations
• Additions that compromise structural balance

Simplicity of functional formulation is always prioritized over visual or trend-driven embellishment.

Sourcing & Batch Integrity

Consistency begins with sourcing. We work with suppliers who maintain quality control and material transparency. Ingredients are stored with care to preserve freshness and stability.

Our small batch sizes remain intentional. We prioritize controlled production and material oversight rather than scale for its own sake.

Integrity is maintained from raw material to finished product.

A Disciplined Standard

Our ingredient standards are not built around labels.  They are built around performance, compatibility, and usage integration.

From the oils that condition the skin to the waxes that structure a candle’s burn, every material is chosen to function reliably within its system.

That is the discipline behind our formulations.
