Balsam fir essential oil is steam distilled from the needles and twigs of the balsam fir tree,a conifer native to the boreal forests of northeastern North America, from Appalachia to the Canadian Maritimes. Its clean, crisp, forest aroma is one of the most evocative of all conifer oils,the scent of a cold winter morning in a pine forest, fresh and resinous without the harshness of some other fir and pine varieties. Indigenous peoples of the Northeast have used balsam fir medicinally for centuries, particularly for respiratory and skin applications.

In our soap and candle formulas balsam fir contributes an exceptional outdoors-forest character,clean, grounding, and deeply evocative of wild, northern landscapes. It is a natural fit for our men's line and for seasonal winter formulas.
