Collection: Camellia Seed Oil
Base Oils & Butters
Camellia sinensis / Camellia oleifera
Camellia seed oil, also known as tsubaki oil in Japan, is cold-pressed from the seeds of the camellia plant, the same species used to produce green, white, and black tea. It has been used for centuries in Japanese and Chinese beauty traditions, most famously by geisha who prized it for its ability to keep skin luminous and hair glossy without heaviness or residue.
One of the highest oleic acid plant oils available, camellia seed oil is extraordinarily similar in composition to the skin's own sebum. It absorbs with remarkable speed and leaves no greasy trace, simply smooth, conditioned skin with a subtle natural radiance.
How It Works
Camellia's exceptional oleic acid content, often exceeding 80%, means it integrates seamlessly with the skin's lipid barrier, conditioning deeply without disrupting the skin's natural balance. It is non-comedogenic, antioxidant-rich, and one of the fastest-absorbing plant oils available. In hair, it adds brilliant shine and softness without weighing strands down, a property that has made it a staple of East Asian haircare for generations.
