Candelilla wax is a plant-derived wax harvested from the leaves of the candelilla shrub, native to the Chihuahuan Desert of northern Mexico and the southwestern United States. It is one of the most widely used vegan alternatives to beeswax in natural cosmetics, valued for its excellent hardening properties and its clean, non-tacky finish.

At Le Silo Bleu we use candelilla wax in select formulas as a fully plant-based alternative to beeswax, allowing us to offer vegan options without compromising on performance or texture.

How It Works

Candelilla wax is harder than beeswax by weight, which means less is needed to achieve the same structural effect in a formula, typically used at about half the amount of beeswax. It creates a smooth, protective coating on the skin and lips that helps lock in moisture and provides a clean, non-greasy finish. It is hypoallergenic and well-tolerated by sensitive skin types.

Vegan & Plant-Based

Candelilla wax is 100% plant-derived and suitable for vegan formulas. Products containing candelilla wax and no animal-derived ingredients are clearly identified in our product descriptions.
