Fractionated Coconut Oil, C8/C10 Triglycerides
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, commonly known as MCT oil or fractionated coconut oil, is produced by fractionating coconut oil to isolate only its medium-chain fatty acids: caprylic acid (C8) and capric acid (C10). The result is an ultra-lightweight, odorless, colorless oil that is exceptionally stable, non-comedogenic, and fast-absorbing, with none of the solid-at-room-temperature character of whole coconut oil and without the distinct coconut scent.
MCT is one of our most versatile carrier oils, used across our face oils, body oils, and leave-in treatments where a lightweight, skin-compatible base is needed that will not interfere with the scent or color of other ingredients.
How It Works
The medium-chain fatty acids in MCT are small enough to penetrate the upper layers of the skin readily, delivering other active ingredients more effectively while providing their own mild emollient and barrier-supporting properties. MCT is exceptionally oxidatively stable, its saturated fatty acid composition means it resists rancidity for extended periods without additional antioxidant support. Its light, dry skin feel makes it ideal as a primary or supporting carrier in formulas where a non-greasy finish is the priority.
