Clove bud essential oil is steam distilled from the unopened flower buds of the clove tree,an evergreen native to the Maluku Islands of Indonesia, the original Spice Islands that drove the European age of exploration and the global spice trade. Cloves were among the most valuable commodities in the ancient world, traded along routes from the Moluccas to China, India, Arabia, and eventually Europe, where their warming, antiseptic properties and extraordinary aroma made them a staple of medieval medicine and cuisine.
In our candle and soap formulas clove bud essential oil adds a warm, spicy, deeply familiar aromatic note that pairs beautifully with orange, vanilla, cedarwood, and cinnamon in seasonal and warming blends.

Skin Benefits
Clove bud's high eugenol content provides powerful antimicrobial and analgesic properties. It is used in formulas for congested or blemish-prone skin, and its mild numbing properties have a long history of use in oral care. It must be used at appropriate dilution rates,eugenol can be sensitizing at high concentrations,and is best used in rinse-off formulas or at very low percentages in leave-on products.
Precautions
Clove bud essential oil is a potential skin sensitizer at higher concentrations. Use at appropriate dilution rates. Not recommended for use on sensitive or damaged skin undiluted.
