Colloidal oatmeal is whole oat grain that has been finely milled and processed to a particle size that suspends in water, creating a milky, soothing colloidal dispersion that is distinctly different in its behavior and application from coarser oatmeal used as an exfoliant. How It Works

Colloidal oatmeal's beta-glucan content forms a protective, moisture-retaining film on the skin surface that physically shields irritated skin from further environmental exposure while supporting barrier repair. Its avenanthramide content, antioxidant compounds unique to oats, provides potent anti-inflammatory and anti-itch relief. Its starches and proteins contribute to the protective film and to a smoothing, softening effect on the skin surface.
