Collection: Evening Primrose Oil

Base Oils & Butters

Oenothera biennis

Evening primrose oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the evening primrose plant, a wildflower native to North America that blooms at dusk. It is one of the richest plant sources of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid that plays a critical role in maintaining the skin's barrier function and supporting a balanced, comfortable complexion.

Used in facial oils and skin-focused formulas, evening primrose oil is particularly valued for its ability to support skin that feels reactive, dry, or hormonally influenced. Its GLA content makes it a meaningful addition to formulas designed for mature or sensitive skin.

How It Works

GLA is an essential fatty acid that the body cannot produce efficiently on its own, particularly as skin ages or in times of hormonal fluctuation. Applied topically, it helps replenish the skin's lipid barrier, supporting moisture retention and a more balanced, comfortable skin feel over time. Evening primrose oil is typically used in combination with other oils to maximize its benefits.
