Fragrance oils are complex aromatic blends formulated specifically for stability and performance in personal care and home fragrance products. Unlike essential oils, which are single-source, steam-distilled plant extracts, fragrance oils are composed of multiple aromatic compounds, both naturally derived and synthetically produced, blended to achieve specific scent profiles that may not be achievable with essential oils alone.

At Le Silo Bleu we want to be transparent: we use both essential oils and fragrance oils in our formulas, and we never claim to be exclusively natural in our scenting. Some of our most loved scents, Day at the Sea, White Tea and Lavender Rain, simply cannot be replicated authentically with essential oils alone. Our fragrance oils are cosmetic-grade, skin-safe, and selected for both performance and scent quality.

How It Works

Cosmetic-grade fragrance oils are formulated to perform safely at specified usage rates in personal care products. They are tested for skin safety and stability in the product types they are used in. In cold process soap, fragrance oils can behave differently than essential oils; some accelerate trace, some cause ricing or separation, which is why we test each fragrance thoroughly before incorporating it into a production formula. Our fragrance oil selections are made with both scent quality and formula performance in mind.

A Note on Transparency

We believe honesty about ingredients builds more trust than overclaiming. Le Silo Bleu is not an all-natural brand; however, we strive to use the best ingredients for each formula, natural or otherwise, and we tell you exactly what is in every product.
