Geogard ECT is our primary broad-spectrum preservative, a naturally derived, COSMOS-approved preservative system used across our haircare, body care, and skincare formulas. In an industry where many preservatives are synthetic, petroleum-derived, or associated with sensitization concerns, Geogard ECT stands out for its naturally sourced ingredients, its effectiveness across a wide pH range, and its certification for use in certified natural and organic cosmetics.

Preservation is not optional in water-containing formulas, without an effective preservative, bacteria, mold, and yeast can colonize a product within days of opening, creating a genuine health risk. How It Works

Geogard ECT works through a combination of mechanisms: benzyl alcohol disrupts bacterial cell membranes, salicylic acid inhibits fungal and bacterial growth, and sorbic acid provides additional broad-spectrum protection against yeasts and molds. Together, they provide comprehensive protection across the range of microorganisms that can contaminate cosmetic products, at usage rates that are effective without causing sensitization in the vast majority of users.
