Collection: Green Tea
Botanicals & Herbs
Camellia sinensis
Green tea comes from the same plant as black tea and white tea, Camellia sinensis, with the difference lying in how the leaves are processed. Green tea leaves are minimally oxidized, which preserves their extraordinary concentration of catechins, polyphenol antioxidants, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), that give green tea its remarkable biological activity.
Consumed and applied topically for centuries across East Asia, green tea is one of the most studied botanicals in modern cosmetic science. Its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and sebum-regulating properties make it a versatile and genuinely effective ingredient for both skin and hair formulas.
How It Works
EGCG and other catechins in green tea neutralize free radicals at the skin surface, supporting protection against UV-induced oxidative stress and premature skin aging. Green tea's natural caffeine content supports circulation, and its tannins provide gentle astringency that helps tone and tighten the skin and scalp. In haircare it supports a balanced scalp environment and may help regulate sebum production over time.
