Collection: Meadowfoam Seed Oil
Base Oils & Butters
Limnanthes alba
Meadowfoam seed oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the meadowfoam plant, a small flowering herb native to the Pacific Northwest of North America. Its name comes from the frothy white appearance of its flowers covering the fields at bloom, a striking visual that hints at the oil's own remarkable properties.
Meadowfoam seed oil is one of the most stable plant oils available, with over 98% long-chain fatty acids that resist oxidation exceptionally well. This stability makes it a valuable addition to formulas where shelf life and freshness are a priority, as well as an outstanding emollient that helps lock other beneficial ingredients into the skin.
How It Works
Meadowfoam's unusual fatty acid profile, dominated by very long-chain fatty acids not found in most other plant oils, gives it its extraordinary stability and its ability to act as a natural fixative in formulas. It forms a light, breathable barrier on the skin that helps slow moisture loss, and it enhances the absorption and performance of other oils it is blended with. It has a very light, non-greasy feel on the skin.
