Olivem 1000

Cetearyl Olivate & Sorbitan Olivate
Olivem 1000 is an olive-derived emulsifier produced from the esterification of cetearyl alcohol and sorbitan with olive oil fatty acids. It is one of the most sophisticated and skin-compatible emulsifiers available in natural cosmetic formulation, developed specifically to mimic the lamellar liquid crystal structure of the skin's own lipid barrier, allowing it to integrate with the skin in a way that most synthetic emulsifiers cannot.
We use Olivem 1000 in our lotion and cream formulas where its exceptional skin compatibility, its ability to create beautifully stable emulsions, and its contribution to skin barrier repair make it the preferred choice over conventional emulsifying wax systems.
How It Works
Olivem 1000's lamellar liquid crystal structure closely resembles the organization of lipids in the skin's stratum corneum, the outermost barrier layer. This structural similarity allows it to integrate with the skin's own lipid system rather than simply sitting on top of it, supporting genuine barrier repair and long-lasting moisture retention rather than temporary surface occlusion. It produces exceptionally stable, elegant emulsions with a lightweight, non-greasy skin feel that is noticeably different from emulsions made with conventional emulsifiers.
