Collection: Papaya Oil

Base Oils & Butters

Carica papaya

Papaya oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the papaya fruit, native to Central America and now cultivated throughout tropical regions worldwide. The seeds, often discarded as a byproduct of the food industry, yield a lightweight, golden oil rich in oleic acid, palmitic acid, and a unique enzyme called papain, which has gentle exfoliating and skin-brightening properties.

Papaya oil brings a warm, exotic character to our formulas along with meaningful skin benefits. Its papain content makes it a particularly interesting ingredient for formulas targeting dull or uneven skin tone, where its gentle enzymatic action supports a more luminous complexion over time.

How It Works

Papain is a proteolytic enzyme, meaning it gently breaks down dead skin proteins on the surface, supporting natural cell turnover and a brighter, more even skin tone. Combined with papaya oil's oleic acid content, which conditions and softens the skin barrier, the result is an oil that both nourishes and gently refines the skin's surface.
