Roman chamomile essential oil is steam distilled from the flowers of Chamaemelum nobile,the low-growing perennial chamomile native to western Europe, particularly England and France, where it has been cultivated in herb gardens for centuries. It is one of the gentlest essential oils available, with a sweet, warm, apple-like aroma that is softer and more delicate than its German counterpart. In French and English herbal traditions Roman chamomile has been a cornerstone of calm,used in tisanes, baths, and skin preparations to soothe and comfort both body and mind.
