Rosa canina / Rosa rubiginosa
Rosehip oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of wild rose bushes, most notably Rosa canina and Rosa rubiginosa, which grow abundantly across Europe, South America, and parts of Africa. One of the most celebrated facial oils in natural skincare, it has been used for centuries for its remarkable skin-renewing properties.
Rich in essential fatty acids, particularly linoleic and alpha-linolenic acid, as well as natural trans-retinoic acid (a precursor to vitamin A), rosehip oil is prized for its ability to support skin cell regeneration and improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven tone, and scarring over time.
How It Works
Rosehip oil's high linoleic acid content makes it particularly beneficial for skin that is congestion-prone, scarred, or showing signs of aging, as linoleic acid is a key building block of the skin's natural barrier. Its natural retinoids support cell turnover without the irritation associated with synthetic retinol. It absorbs readily into skin without a heavy or greasy residue.
