Collection: Seaweed & Kelp
Botanicals & Herbs
Ascophyllum nodosum / Laminaria digitata
Seaweed and kelp have been harvested from the coastlines of Normandy and Brittany for centuries, used as agricultural fertilizer, food, and medicine by coastal communities who understood their remarkable mineral richness long before modern science confirmed it. The waters of the Cotentin peninsula, where the cold Atlantic currents meet the tidal flats of the Normandy coast, produce some of the most mineral-dense seaweed in the world.
At Le Silo Bleu seaweed and kelp carry a genuine provenance story, they will connect our upcoming skincare formulas to the coastline that inspires our line, Averelé, and to the thalassotherapy traditions of the Norman coast, where seawater and marine botanicals have been used for skin and body wellness for generations.
How It Works
Seaweed and kelp are extraordinarily rich in minerals, particularly iodine, magnesium, calcium, and potassium, as well as fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hydration-supporting properties. Fucoidan has been studied for its ability to support skin firmness and moisture retention. The mineral content nourishes and remineralizes the skin surface, while the alginates provide a gentle film-forming and conditioning effect.
