Shea butter is extracted from the nut of the shea tree, native to the savanna regions of West and East Africa. For centuries, it has been used by communities across the continent as a skin and hair treatment, valued for its rich, creamy texture and deeply nourishing properties. Today it remains one of the most beloved ingredients in natural skincare and soapmaking worldwide.

We use shea butter across both our soap and haircare formulas. In soap it provides structure and hardness, which is essential in palm-free recipes, while contributing a dense, creamy lather and a noticeably conditioning skin feel. In haircare, it seals in moisture, smooths the cuticle, and helps protect hair from environmental stressors.

How It Works

Shea butter is rich in stearic, palmitic, and oleic fatty acids- a combination that builds bar hardness while keeping the lather gentle and conditioning. Its natural content of vitamins A and E adds antioxidant properties, and its triterpene content is believed to support skin comfort and resilience.
