Collection: Sunflower Oil
Base Oils & Butters
Helianthus annuus
Sunflower oil is pressed from the seeds of the sunflower plant and is one of the most widely grown oilseed crops in the world. For soapmaking, we work with high-oleic sunflower oil, a variety cultivated specifically for its elevated oleic acid content, which makes it more stable and better suited to long-lasting bar soap formulas.
High-oleic sunflower oil behaves similarly to olive oil in a formula, contributing gentle conditioning and a pleasant skin feel while supporting bar longevity. It is an excellent choice for palm-free recipes where we want the mildness of a high-oleic oil alongside structural butters.
How It Works
Standard sunflower oil is high in linoleic acid, very conditioning but prone to faster rancidity. High-oleic sunflower oil shifts that balance toward oleic acid, making it more shelf-stable while retaining excellent skin-softening properties. The result is a bar that stays fresh longer without compromising on feel.
