Botanicals & Herbs
Tremella fuciformis
Tremella, also known as snow mushroom or silver ear mushroom, is a delicate, frilly fungus that grows on hardwood trees across tropical and subtropical Asia. Used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 2,000 years as a longevity and beauty tonic, it was reportedly a favorite of Yang Guifei, one of the four great beauties of ancient China, who credited it with her luminous complexion.
What makes tremella extraordinary in modern skincare is its ability to hold up to 500 times its weight in water, a hydration capacity that surpasses even hyaluronic acid. Its polysaccharides form a lightweight, film-forming network on the skin that supports deep, lasting moisture retention without heaviness or occlusion.
How It Works
Tremella's polysaccharides have a smaller molecular size than many forms of hyaluronic acid, allowing them to penetrate more deeply into the skin's surface layers and provide more sustained hydration. They form a breathable moisture-retaining film that plumps, smooths, and softens the skin over time. Tremella also contains vitamin D and a range of antioxidant compounds that support skin health beyond simple hydration.
