Vitamin E, in the form of mixed tocopherols or tocopheryl acetate, is one of the most important antioxidant ingredients in natural cosmetic formulation, serving a dual role as both a skin-active ingredient and a natural formula preservative. Naturally occurring in many of the plant oils we use,particularly wheat germ oil, sunflower oil, and rosehip oil,we also add additional vitamin E to select formulas to boost antioxidant protection and support formula stability.

As a skin ingredient, vitamin E is genuinely active, it supports skin cell health, reduces the impact of UV-induced oxidative stress, and contributes to a more comfortable, nourished skin feel over time. As a formula ingredient, it helps prevent the oxidative rancidity that causes oils to go stale.

How It Works

Tocopherols are fat-soluble antioxidants that neutralize free radicals, unstable molecules produced by UV exposure, pollution, and metabolic processes that damage skin cells and accelerate aging. Applied topically, vitamin E provides a meaningful layer of protection against oxidative damage while supporting the skin's natural repair processes. In our oil-based formulas it also protects the oils themselves from oxidizing during storage, extending shelf life naturally alongside ROE.
