Cananga odorata

Ylang ylang essential oil is steam distilled from the freshly picked flowers of the Cananga odorata tree, native to the tropical rainforests of Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Comoro Islands,which produce some of the finest ylang ylang in the world. The name means "flower of flowers" in Tagalog, and its intensely sweet, heady, exotic floral aroma is one of the most distinctive and polarizing in natural perfumery,used sparingly it adds extraordinary depth and sensuality to a blend; overdone it can be overwhelming.

In our formulas ylang ylang is used with precision,a supporting note that adds warmth and exotic sweetness to floral blends without dominating. In haircare it has a long tradition of use for its sebum-balancing and shine-enhancing properties.

Ylang ylang's linalool and geranyl acetate content contribute anti-inflammatory and sebum-balancing properties. It is traditionally used in formulas for oily or combination hair and skin, where its ability to regulate sebum production without over-drying supports a more balanced, comfortable result. Its extraordinary floral character also makes it a valued ingredient in candle and body care formulas.
